About the Event
West End and Jazz star Sarah-Jane Hassell has a voice that is clear and strong. Her melodic phrasing and rhythmic subtlety make her a highly praised and in-demand performer. Sarah-Jane has performed at a great variety of venues, including : Royal Albert Hall, Savoy Hotel, Park Lane Hilton, The 100 Club, Pizza Express Music Rooms, Ronnie Scotts, The Bull's Head Jazz Club. Prior to her burgeoning career in jazz Sarah-Jane performed extensively in the West End, coming to prominence playing The Mistress in Evita at the Prince Edward Theatre. Other shows included A Slice of Saturday Night and Les Miserables, as Emma Fairfax in Dr Dolittle and Ellen in Miss Saigon at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Jane’s repertoire extends from Caro Emerald to Cole Porter, The Beatles to Gershwin, Jobim to Retro Swing, with many surprises along the way.
John Harriman is a critically acclaimed Jazz Pianist, Bandleader and Composer. “Impeccable musicianship” The Times, “Fine jazz...excellent piano....well worth seeing” The Gig Guide. John’s life in music began at the age of 7 as chorister in Westminster Cathedral Choir where he became Head Chorister and then soloist touring with the Royal Opera. His jazz piano professional playing developed in California where he resided for 10 years and studied at University of California at Berkeley combining his playing with a career in law. In recent years he has advanced his music playing in the UK to become a leading jazz pianist performing with numerous revered artists and vocalists and creating award winning Latin Jazz Quintet Heads South.
